Our Plan
HappyBein is a small Dutch foundation with one goal: give people the understanding and the tools to build a better world. Our articles and audio help people understand themselves and society; our tools help them act on it in daily life. This page says what we have built, what we are working on now, and what comes next.
A world where people and animals have the best possible chance to live well, now and in the future, in every part of their lives.
The world is complex, and the way societies work, like people’s habits, is hard to change.
With clear reasoning and understanding, we look for the levers that make the biggest difference, and put our effort where it counts most.
Give people the understanding and the tools to build a better world.
By a better world we mean a fair and sustainable one, where people feel as good as possible. That vision has guided us since we started in 2021. What has changed is how we work towards it.
The problem we work on
Many habits, routines and ways of thinking make life harder than it needs to be, for people and for society. Changing them is difficult, because people often lack two things:
- Clarity: what do I actually want, and why? How does society work, and where is it going?
- Support: practical help to reach those goals, alone or together.
Where we are today
- YeahCore: guides on human needs, good decision-making and the 4 Pillars framework.
- YeahSight: about 20 articles on how society works, future forces and fair sharing, ending in a Vision & Roadmap for society. Articles are being reviewed one by one. The first one is also available as a podcast episode in English and French.
- YeahVibe: a set of free tools, including IntentFlow (goals and daily planning), ShopTools (shopping lists) and Reflect (self-reflection). ShopTools is in testing on Android.
- Languages: English, with French, Dutch and Spanish on parts of the sites.
We are a small foundation with a small budget. We plan for that, and we prefer doing a few things well over promising many.
What we are working on now
Three things, side by side. Each one feeds the others: what people tell us shapes the content and the tools.
Content
- Review the YeahSight and YeahCore articles so they share the same clear structure, starting with the key ones.
- Each article gets a short summary, an audio version and a share image.
- Publish the articles as podcast episodes and short videos, so people can listen or watch instead of read.
- Make the HappyBein sites easy to understand for first-time visitors.
Tools
- Invite small groups of people to use our tools for several weeks and tell us what works.
- Improve the tools based on what they tell us, and drop what doesn't help.
Reaching people
- Reach out to initiatives already working on these topics, to share what we have and learn from what they do.
- Share our articles, podcasts and videos with people who may find them useful.
Later: partners and sponsors
- Work with partners who share our goal: communities, schools, workplaces and organisations that want to test or use our content and tools.
- Look for sponsors and funds to support the work, and grow the foundation's board.
What we won't do
- No ads.
- No paywall: our content is free to read, and our tools are free to start.
- No selling of personal data.
